TRN V80: V is for Voracious Bass
All right mates, Once again, I do another recap review on the IEMs that I've previously owned within a span of 4 years. Let's talk about TRN V80. TRN V80 was a 2018 flagship IEM from TRN Audio,They were a very popular IEM model especially In local audiophile scene here for having a good build quality metal housing and competitive at cheap price price at $40 - 45.
TRN V80 is a 2 balanced armature and 2 dynamic driver set-up.It has a U-shaped (V-shaped to some)sound signature. More emphasis on bass and treble elevation, linear mids in audio frequency. It has a good built quality as I mention as its shell material is made up of aluminium. Its aesthetics is somewhat similar in appearance to Dunu's Falcon C that also offers better fitting on ears at comfortable level. Now lets go on to its sound quality.
The LOWS/BASS is the strongest point of this IEM,It is very punchy and dynamic. You will really feel the rumble of the sub bass,it really digs deep on to it.It has a slight bump in the mid bass which offer an impactful drum kicks and engaging sound of bass guitar.
MIDS here are quite recessed on my liking here.Too linear in my hearing but the vocals are frontal and forward in mix, Female vocals will be more benefited on this one than male vocals as high vocal range or high octave ones will show its prowess and technicalities. There is a good spacing between the instruments like percussion ones and guitars, That they are well-detailed, refined and engaging here. The revealing of some micro-details is a good add-on.
The HIGHS/TREBLE is energetic and has good shimmer on it.The upper mids is kinda boasted and peaky here that some tracks shows its tendency towards sibilance. It has a good handle of clarity in presence region which it is was slightly smoothen to avoid the harshness. It has a well-extended and has a sense of airiness in a brilliance which extended the range of crashing cymbal and its natural tonality.
The SOUNDSTAGE of this IEM is above average and sort of a "In your face feeling", It has a good depth and some of that immersive 3D-feeling on it.The IMAGING is accurate enough to pinpoint the locations of instrument and stereo panning is detail.Complex tracks with treble emphasis is somehow has mixed bag on here as it shows more distortion and dissonance on the mix.
If you want that bassy experience and the vivacious clarity then this IEM is for you.
